The First Update for 2011…

18 Jan

Welcome to the new look of the website, nothing fancy so far. I thought of just keeping it in blog form for now. It’s easier to manager and edit.

But not just because of those reasons, i really don’t have the time to make it so fancy and flashy. You can always follow me on Twitter for updates and such.

I’m really not going to get into so much detail on what’s been happening in my life exactly. But what you can do is stay tuned to this website.

I guess you could kind of say the website is in mini mode right now.
But also just to clearify, the other pages are active and stay as they will, it’s just the home page that is going to be kept like this.

Personal Updates

7 Nov

Well where do i start… First off last monday, the first of November i had a minor surgery. Nothing too fancy just some heart surgery. Anyway! This blog is just a quick update on what’s been happening in my life. I’m going to keep it really short and quick i guess.

Alright so, lately i’ve been thinking of doing my own podcast, now i don’t think i want to do it weekly but i will do one seeing as i do have a bunch of free time every saturday before our radio show (6-8pm, 100.3fm – 2MCR) so i thought why not start my own podcast, besides the one we already do for an after show version with more talking.

I’ve just got to get around to it and work out something on the website where i can put it, and what not. And if i do have time to edit it and so on. Nothing straight away but i’ll think about it in the new year.

Now another thing that i’ve been busy with is some other media things, i did a quick media job for the Pro Wrestling Alliance Australia, that was fun and it help me develop my music making skills

Oh and also, go and play Super Meat Boy!!! It’s avaliable on XBOXLIVE.

Video Game: Limbo

21 Oct

Welcome to another review here on Steve Likoski Productions dot com, the first review was the movie “Gamer” and keeping with the theme sort of is the video game “Limbo” an Xbox Live Aracade Original.

This game was released by Playdead Studios via xboxlive on the 21st of July 2010, so as you can see it hasn’t been out that long at all. But me personally, i usually take a while to play games. But that’s mostly because of my personal life which is usually busy anyway.

GAMEPLAY: Now onto the game it’s self. Which looks so amazing, the graphics and rendering of this game is really good. I may not know much about video game graphics but as a film school student and seeing a game like this, it’s just like perfection. In terms of graphics and overall look of the in game world, you can almost compare to a couple of games. One of those people Braid.

Throughout the majority of the game, you play as a child boy searching throught the world known as LIMBO, which is mostly very grainy and dark. It’s beautiful to say the least. This game has a very dark theme to it, but it works so well. It just adds to the beautiful game play. Most of the game takes up your time of doing puzzles and quests, sort of like Portal but it’s not a first person perspection, it’s more of a side scroller platform.

Limbo pretty much sums up the game, without going into too much detail because i think every single person that reads this needs to play this game if you haven’t already. Log on to your XBOX, head on over to Game Marketplace and purchase this game. It’s only 1200 points, and it’s worth it.

FINAL THOUGHTS: As you can tell by this short review i’m not going to get into the finer details of the game, go and play it. It’s worth your time. I usually take my times with games like this and it took me at least a month to finish it, but that’s saying something because i took me three months to finish Portal. Go and buy this game, follow the links below for all the relevant details.

  • Movie: Gamer

    18 Oct

    Poster: Wikipedia.org

    Synopsis by Wikipedia.org:

Gamer is a 2009 science fiction thriller film written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. The film stars Gerard Butler as a participant in an online game in which participants can control human beings as players, and Logan Lerman as the player who controls him. Gamer was released in North America on September 4, 2009 and the United Kingdom on September 16, 2009.

    My Review:

So i was told “Gamer” was a good movie, or so i was told. So i thought, sure i’ll go and find it. But surprisingly it happen to be on Movie One last night. So i watched it, just to give it a try.

And well besides the first person view, it’s quite a crap movie. It’s got so many elements already shown in other movies. Like the DOOM and others.

Now i’m not a fan of Gerard Butler, but i did like him in “The Ugly Truth” where he actually had a great character and he pulled it off really good. Nothing against the guy what so ever, but i just felt Gamer was a really boring movie. I was cringing through it and just found it really boring. But i guess that’s just the filmmakers wanted to catch on the buzz of the video game industry at any chance they can get.

I’ve got a thing against video games being turned into movies, this isn’t one of those cases. Seeing as Gamer isn’t even a video game to begin with. But any who, i didn’t really like this movie. I may not be a professional film critic like David Stratton. But i know when i see a bad movie and this was definitely one of them.

    Outstanding:
The only really outstanding actor was Michael C. Hall, but what would you expect from an awesome actor.

    RATING:
    3/10

    9/11 Updates

    11 Sep

Today is definitely a big day (I have to say it’s been twenty minutes since i clicked Post, and i forgot what i wanted to type so i’ll make this quick) Clearly today is september 11, or 9/11 or “The downfall of America”. Now i definitely don’t agree with what has happened and now that it’s Nine years later the threat on America and not just America but the rest of the world is still going.

Especially with this past week and the whole “Burn a Koran Day” Which would have ended badly for everyone involved. Not just America or Australia, i mean “EVERYONE”. Child, Animal, Parent, Women, Man, Water, Sky… Everyone and everything.

Well that’s not all i wanted to blog about… I know it’s been nearly two months without a single blog but that’s understandable when you’ve got your own problems to deal with. And having work today also, blogging becomes the last thing on your mind when it comes to your life.

I’ve taken the time to make two new pages.

  • #1) “Things We Like” :: Which is clearly a page of things i love out there on the internet, and it’s totally different to what the Link page is all about.
  • and

  • #2) “Work” :: This page has everything that has to do with my past, present and future works.
  • Besides those updates, i thought i would update you in my own life. Especially since i’ve been going to the movies a lot and by a lot i mean at least three times a week, but i can’t help that their is currently some awesome movies been out. Like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Tomorrow When The War Began. But i’ll get into those more in the podcast form rather than the blog form.

Also you should always read Encyclopdia Dramatica, because it is totally awesome and it’s always great for a laugh and not to take anything away from 9/11 here is the ED article…. Enjoy.

  • E3 2010 “KINECT WTF???”

    15 Jun

So last night i was up till 6am watching the XBOX360-E3 2010 press “The future Revealed” conference on a 30 minute delay thanks to FOX8 but hey it’s better than nothing right?

Anyway, what they did announce well show us actually, was the new and formally named “PROJECT NATAL” but has now been perfectly titled “WII 2” just kidding but it has been called “KINECT” which i already find stupid. But that’s just my opinion… And the rest of the gaming community. If we all wen’t off name value then hardly anything would get bought.

Well they also did show us the wicked new XBOX360 Slimline
it looks quite awesome and it’s already got all the new software for KINECT READYNESS. I just don’t know if i really want to pay another 500 dollars to buy a new console for all the new stuff, i’ve got a Wii and if i wanted to do that whole motion censor stuff i’d buy the PS3 upgrade.

Not only did they show us thew new console and new hardware for the 360, they showed us some of the new games to come out.

  • Fable III
  • Gears of War 3
  • Halo: Reach
  • Milo and Kate
  • And that’s just the first conference for day one, i might do a day two post if i get a chance to see the footage and if i do see the footage for some of the other platforms then i guess i’ll post it too.
Who am i kidding, i’m a gamer. Of course i’m going to go and buy the new XBOX360-KINECT!
